||85||: Day 16/17 of the Minimalism Game

For the 16th and 17th of October, I’ll be letting go of 33 items.

Beyond letting go, some new belongings that bring me delight and satisfaction are plants, I own about 8. Every time I visit the shop for produce, I see an opportunity to own another plant. I take a deep breath, peek a bit and then keep it movement. I think about my plant babies at home and know that I’ve reached my limit. I currently live in a small place and I ask myself, where will my new plants go? I think it’s important while purchasing and even receiving gifts to have boundaries and rules in place of what we bring into our homes. That’s something I need to work on, I’ve brought home many gifts without processing where it will go, Will I use it, and will it bring value into my life?

Other than letting go of items, the weekend is my time to write, sing, meditate, budget and hike outdoors. That’s the beauty of having less, I’m spending less time sorting and cleaning and more time in reflection, rest and creative expression. Isn’t that what we want apart from own things, memorable experiences with the people we love?

I’ve decided not to post Day 16/17 because the clutter hurts my eyes. I imagine it will be an annoying image to view my cluster of trinkets. I’m keeping my word and the album is on my phone called The Minimalism Game, and those items will be out the door pronto, for my tranquil sake.

While sorting through each room in my home, I think about items I haven’t touched in 2019 or 2020 (what an odd year), I think about what I’m currently interested in and creating cohesion in my home and these photos below and the list of keywords help me stay true to the vibe I’m creating.

Key words I keep in mind when sorting through my items:
  • Calm. Cool.
  • Comfortable and Cozy.
  • Crystals.
  • Earth Tones.
  • Feminine w/ Edge.
  • Functional.
  • Green. Growth. Plants.
  • Healing. High Frequencies.
  • Herbs.
  • Life. Light.
  • Low Maintenance.
  • Nature. Natural Fibers.
  • Meditation.
  • Minimal.
  • Modern.
  • Oasis.
  • Sensual.
  • SPACE.
  • Tranquil.
  • Yellow, Sunshine.
I imagine that I’m creating a mood board for my current home, when I look around, I want it to be a calm resting space to rest my mind and body. I hope this inspires you to recreate your own tranquil space and wherever you live with whatever you have, make it beautiful. List your words and day by day, make it so.

Truly,
